Why did you choose to work at DLA Piper?

I chose to work at DLA Piper as it is a prestigious global law firm and has a strong reputation in various practice areas including M&A. Being an M&A lawyer in DLA Piper has provided me with valuable opportunities to work on a diverse range of complex but interesting deals across various industries and jurisdictions and build my expertise.  

What pro bono activities have you been involved in?

I participated in a pro bono project for the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre and the Asian Development Bank in which we researched internal displacement policies in Asia and the Pacific with the objective of informing government agencies in the region on successful examples in addressing the phenomenon.  

Another interesting pro bono project I worked on was advising the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, a department of the Secretariat of the United Nations that works to promote and protect human rights, on their research on prison reform measures in Indonesia.

Do you have any advice for students aspiring to pursue a career in law?

Seek out opportunities to gain practical experience in the legal field whether through internships, clerkships or volunteer work at law firms, legal clinics, companies or government agencies. This experience will provide valuable insights into the day-to-day work of different types of legal professions and help you determine which one interests you the most.
