Why did you choose to work at DLA Piper?

The firm is known for its commitment to nurturing next generation lawyers. Since my first day as an intern, colleagues have been helpful and have offered me tremendous support at work. They've encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone to take on more responsibility to develop my professional and legal skills.

The firm is a home away from home to me. My colleagues often gather outside of work to participate in activities ranging from birthday celebrations to dragon boat races. Through these events, I've developed strong relationships with my colleagues. This makes work a lot more enjoyable!

How would you describe the culture at DLA Piper?

Colleagues are inclusive and are often open to discuss anything you need help with. As a trainee, I've never felt that there's a barrier with senior colleagues, and I can comfortably express my opinions and ask questions. The partners and associates alike help whenever possible and this has allowed me to easily settle into the firm.

DLA Piper also has a strong culture for collaboration, within and across geographies and practice groups.

Is there anything you would like to highlight about your experiences at DLA Piper?

I've always seen sports as a way of managing stress and improving my wellbeing. The firm offers a variety of sports teams ranging from running to basketball to dragon boating. As the sports enthusiast that I am, I take every opportunity to take part in these activities!

One highlight from my experiences was my participation in the firm's dragon boat team. During the 2024 dragon boat championship, the firm's dragon boat team achieved third place in the finals. When the team reached the finishing line, everyone was hugging each other, and it was at that moment that I realised I had a sense of belonging to the firm. This experience confirmed that DLA Piper is not just a workplace, but somewhere where people care about and support each other.
