How would you describe the culture at DLA Piper?

Going on secondment to Dublin demonstrated how DLA Piper’s values of being supportive, collaborative, bold, and exceptional are consistently applied internationally. The firm's culture is underpinned by transparency in communicating strategies, initiatives, and goals across the firm, ensuring that everyone understands their role and how they can contribute to the firm's success.

This clear and consistent approach fosters a cohesive and inclusive environment where each person, even as a new joiner or a trainee, feels valued and aligned to the firm’s objectives. The international nature of the firm means that these values are not just local but are embraced globally, creating a unified culture across borders.

Is there anything you would like to highlight about your experiences at DLA Piper?

As a trainee, I feel encouraged to think creatively about ways to contribute to the team and the wider firm. This includes engaging in substantive client work, contributing to business development events, and participating in legal technology initiatives.

I've been empowered to articulate my views and have been encouraged to challenge perspectives critically, which is essential for a lawyer. I've been given the opportunity to pursue my career ambitions and gain exposure to work I'm passionate about, all while maintaining a balanced and varied work and client exposure.

The ability to work on diverse projects and the encouragement to take ownership of my career path have made my time at DLA Piper incredibly fulfilling. This holistic approach to my development has not only enhanced my legal skills but also instilled in me a strong sense of confidence and purpose as a young, enthusiastic lawyer.
