Why did you choose to work at DLA Piper?

DLA Piper stood out to me for its commitment to quality and excellence while being involved in interesting transactions, both in local and international markets. As a global firm, working at DLA Piper gives you exposure to international transactions and cross-border legal matters and allows you to learn from the challenges that come with this type of work. This opens up the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from lawyers in other jurisdictions and leads to a more diverse firm culture. Choosing DLA Piper has enriched my professional development and enabled me to grow as a lawyer.

What have you learned from your experiences at DLA Piper?

During my time at DLA Piper since I started as a trainee lawyer, I have learned invaluable lessons about the intricacies of working at a leading law firm and being involved in complex transactions with a wide range of challenges. Having the opportunity to work in this type of environment allows you to lean in and build on your strengths while continuing to learn. Working under the mentorship of experienced lawyers at the firm has reinforced the importance of effective communication, adaptability, and teamwork, not only to achieve successful outcomes for clients but also to keep on progressing in your professional career.

Do you have any advice for students aspiring to pursue a career in law?

For students aspiring to pursue a career in law, my advice would be to take advantage of internships to gain practical experience and learn about the different areas of law. Stay informed about current legal issues and developments and focus on developing critical thinking and communication skills. This profession is demanding, but persevering through challenges, staying adaptable and being open to continuous learning will help you to grow as a professional and give you valuable opportunities on your legal career. The key is to make the most of your time and try to learn as much as you can.
