Why did you choose to work at DLA Piper?

I have always had a keen interest in employment law and DLA Piper offered me what I was looking for. DLA Piper is a large and well-respected law firm, offering a wide variety of projects with international clients. This aligned well with my career aspirations.

The firm provides a comprehensive training programme and the chance to work on high profile cases, which is something that I’ve always found highly rewarding. As a junior lawyer and considering Madrid’s international profile, DLA Piper was the perfect balance between training and professional development. There were many reasons to apply to DLA Piper, and even more reasons to join the Madrid office.

Is there anything you would like to highlight about your experiences at DLA Piper?

I have always been impressed by the thoroughness, diligence and hard-working nature of DLA Piper colleagues. It feels more like a family environment; you get the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from other departments and in other countries.  Throughout my time at DLA Piper, I’ve gained critical thinking presentation and teamwork skills and I’ve also gained so much technical legal knowledge. These are all essential skills for my future career.

After almost three years at DLA Piper, I appreciate how the working environment has developed my problem-solving and creativity skills. I feel professionally rewarded in what I do, particularly in managing and understanding complex legal issues.

What has surprised you most about DLA Piper?

I never appreciated how much there is to learn as a lawyer – I really feel like I am making an impact. DLA Piper is a great place to work and offers everything you need to progress. The firm has always supported me during my career.

Although the training programme is dynamic and innovative, it’s structured in a step-by-step approach, ensuring a smooth transition from university into the workplace. My colleagues take the time to explain new concepts to me and their passion for their work is visible. This makes learning so much more enjoyable.
