Why did you choose to work at DLA Piper?

My experience with DLA Piper started with a summer internship in the Restructuring team. At the time, I was not thinking about starting my career but rather continuing my studies with an LL.M.

When I was an intern at the firm, I discovered an inclusive and supportive team that directly involved me in stimulating cases with multijurisdictional implications as well as interesting arbitration files. I really enjoyed the work I did and that convinced me to start as a trainee lawyer.

What have you learned from your time at DLA Piper so far?

First, I learned that you can start working at DLA Piper without having completed your LL.M. and that the life of a lawyer is not like in a television series, but just as interesting! I also came to realise how little I knew about working in a firm from my academic studies and that most of the job is learned through on-the-job training. Every day, I’m improving my critical thinking, skills, and capabilities (through pleadings, writing conclusions, client meetings).

I’m also learning that you can be your authentic self and reach your true potential in a collaborative and professional work environment.

What have you learned from your experiences at DLA Piper?

DLA Piper combines a strong global strategy with a healthy work ethic and a firmwide team spirit. The firm puts a lot of effort into developing its teams through varied activities (for example, a New Year’s social event, summer events and the Luxemburg Marathon) that help you grow at all levels.

The firm provides a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment driven by a value-based culture. DLA Piper places great emphasis on pro bono initiatives and promotes openness, innovation, and wellbeing.
