Why did you choose to work at DLA Piper?

I spent the majority of my formative years in the Middle East before going abroad to university. Part me of always knew that I would come back one day and after about ten years of living abroad I decided it was time. DLA Piper’s prominence in the region became immediately apparent and I was drawn to its key sectors. My plan was initially to move back to Saudi Arabia and so I applied for a role at DLA Piper there. They were not looking for anyone new at the time, so my name was passed to our office in Dubai, who were looking to recruit a new paralegal at the time. I interviewed with the Dubai team and felt an immediate connection. Six years down the line, I am still here and joining the firm was the best decision I could have made.

What have you learned from your experiences at DLA Piper?

I have developed both personally and professionally at DLA Piper. This firm and my team have shaped me into the lawyer I am today. There are many things that I have learned in my time here but, most of all, I have learned the importance of being part of a good team. To have a team that supports you, challenges you and brings the best out of you. A healthy work culture is something that many firms talk about, but I have experienced firsthand what this truly means.

How would you describe the culture at DLA Piper?

The culture at DLA Piper is non-hierarchal, collaborative, supportive and motivating. There is a clear drive to recruit individuals that align to this culture, making it authentic and effortlessly harmonious. There is a sense of equity and camaraderie among colleagues that contributes to an authentic team atmosphere.
